6th International Islet Isolation and Transplantation Workshop from the Network of Islet Centers in Europe (NICE)

The previous workshops (including the 5th workshop at the Islet Transplant Center, University of Lille, France) with hands-on experienc in islet isolation, purification and quality assessment and lecturing of the leading European experts have been very succesful and highly appreciated both by participants and lecturing faculty.

The 6th workshop will be held in 2007 at the ISMETT (Mediterranean Institute for Transplantation and Specialized Therapies) in Palermo (Sicily), Italy. Exact date and location will be specified.

REGISTRY FUNCTION
Data collection and computer entry on all islet auto-, allo- and xenotransplants performed throughout the world. Execution of scientific data analysis, including summary statistics, group comparisons and factor analysis. Publication of analysis results in form of a newsletter and in health care professionals journals. Distribution of the newsletter to participating and other interested institutions. Maintenance of a roster of participating institutions to include the name of the responsible member of the transplant team, contact persons, telephone/fax numbers and addresses. Interaction with the International Pancreas Transplant Registry.
